Improving maternal health care through mobile apps

By March 4, 2019 No Comments

The impact of technology on healthcare is immense. Digital technology could help transform unsustainable healthcare systems into sustainable ones, equalise the relationship between medical professionals and patients, provide cheaper, faster and more effective solutions.

Bringing the benefits to technology to the rural areas, Garima and Abhishek set-up Preleaf Technology – a social enterprise that works in the field of maternal health. They developed Maatritva, a mobile application that enables midwives to provide timely and appropriate antenatal care to every woman and ensure safe deliveries for a better and healthier society. They piloted their solution in Amboli in the Trimbak Block of Nashik district. Amboli is a primary health centre with 13 Sub-centers. Founded in 2017, to date, they have worked with 1000 health workers, over 500 Sub-centers, 100+ primary health centres and helped 50000+ pregnant women to have safe deliveries.

Here’s a look at their fieldwork and how they are transforming how quality healthcare is delivered.
