Culture Aangan

Level 1, 2010

Culture Aangan uses cultural rural tourism to create sustainable livelihood for rural communities. It has developed home stays in 5 talukas, developed the Pinguli art impacting the village of 1500 households and also established a women’s self help group project impacting around 4000 women. Rashmi has been working with Tourism Cooperative since 2000 through which she initiated the showcasing of tribal arts and crafts in international festivals. While travelling through Europe with Tourism Cooperative, Rashmi stayed with local families as opposed to hotels. This experience sparked the idea of Culture Aangan as a means of developing the rural areas through tourism.
