We’ve spotlighted local brands by our social entrepreneurs who are paving the path for conscious consumerism while economically uplifting artisans, craftsmen and communities that often go unnoticed.

From upcycling plastic to healthy super foods, here’s a curated list of brands that offer you green swaps & alternative products to help you kick off your sustainability journey. Go ahead, pamper yourself or gift a little care package to your family, friends or colleagues while taking a step towards a more sustainable future.

DesiHangover works towards bring a sustainable, positive, social, environmental and economic change in the lives of the traditional shoemaking clusters in Kolhapur and Belgaum. They upcycle leather to weave timeless shoes. Every DesiHangover shoe creates new opportunities, new hope and helps the community stitch together a whole new life.  When you shop at their store, you don’t walk out with just a shoe, but a story.

The Initiative provides sustainable livelihoods to low-income craftspeople in Maharashtra & Punjab by employing them to create well-designed, functional and handcrafted daily use products. Women refurbish old sarees or upcycle garment production waste to make hand quilted products. Each piece is one-of-a-kind and has a unique story to tell. Right from yoga mat bags to quilts, you can shop for all your daily essentials here or even create a statement piece from an old saree!

Aarohana EcoSocial Developments works on upcycling plastic waste (such as plastic bags, wrappers etc.) using the process of handloom weaving to convert them into usable products such as handbags and laptop bags, folders, and other office & home decor items. Their processing units near Silvassa and Pune employ local and underserved community women to design the products while providing them with a source of livelihood. Go ahead, collect your wrappers & save the planet!

No Nasties focuses on creating a consumer movement for organic and fair trade cotton to reduce farmer suicides in cotton farming in India. Starting from seed up, a No Nasties garment is a labour of love – love for the planet,

Taru Naturals focusses on sourcing and creating a market for naturally-grown superfoods such as Black rice, turmeric etc. from identified tribal and small scale communities across India. 
While working with the farmers, they hold capacity building workshops & organic farming trainings to upskill the farmers. Their products range from organic turmeric to pancake mixes. Fix yourself a tasty, & healthy Sunday brunch!

Saathi is a purpose-driven manufacturing company that makes eco-friendly hygiene products. They produce a 100% biodegradable and chemical-free sanitary napkins from banana tree fibre. They have established a circular economy by buying agri-waste from banana tree farmers to use as raw material and employ underprivileged women to manufacture the sanitary pads. For every sanitary napkin that you pick, they provide free napkins to women in rural India.

They design daily products with ingredients that are 100% natural & biodegradable. From laundry cleaners to face & body scrubs, their cleansers are regional and produce zero waste.
