Our story

The idea of starting UnLtd India was formed on a learning journey organised by Richard Alderson and Pooja Warier. Both, Pooja and Richard worked closely with social entrepreneurs during their stint at UnLtd UK and were keen on exploring the entrepreneur landscape in India. The purpose of the journey was two-fold: To facilitate a rich exchange of knowledge, experiences, and learnings between social entrepreneurs and leaders from UK and India, while also understanding the social entrepreneurship ecosystem in India. Right from Delhi to Mumbai, Pooja and Richard interacted with a number of social entrepreneurs who were actively solving pressing socio-economic issues in India.

The journey, inspired by Michael Norton – a trustee of UnLtd UK, revealed that early-stage social entrepreneurs faced two major barriers – stage-appropriate funding and intensive professional support that would guide them in their endeavour for social change. Thus, the idea of UnLtd India was born with the aim to guide and support young change-makers through their journey, and build an ecosystem that encourages and empowers their work.
